In-Edit is the biggest music documentary festival worldwide. It all began in Barcelona in 2003 and it is now taking place in Berlin, in Sao-Paulo, in Santiago and Bogota and is constantly spreading. In two days we will welcome In-Edit festival for the second time in Athens, in a historic cinema at the heart of the city and our nights will be full of music. It begins on Wednesday, February 24 with the screening of the documentary "Daft Punk Unchained "and it will end on Sunday, February 28 with the story of our beloved Amy Winehouse. 11 films in 5 days, parties and drinks with friends, we are really looking forward!

The people of Greece are invited on Sunday 5th July to vote YES or NO to an agreement with its lenders that does not exist anymore. Now the topic is more a matter of greek pride and resistance against austerity and people exploitation. And that's because the measures during the 5 years of austerity have not improved the situation at all, on the other hand they have worsened it. Unemployment, poverty, misery have conquered the country and the poor have become poorer.
Hope was lost until now that some people think that it is our time to resist. But then what happens? We come to a better agreement or we stay alone, isolated from Europe with no allies at all? As greek banks have capital control and as Greece cannot print its own money the question is rhetoric. The answer will be given after Sunday and I hope the result will be the best for people's sake.
Athens Jazz Festival is one of my favourite festivals and I am waiting for it anxiously every year. It has now become an institution since it started 15 years ago and it marks the beginning of summer celebrations in the city. It has free entrance (which is very much appreciated from Athenians), great jazz musicians from all over the world and a beautiful public that gathers every night at Technopolis for this 5-day fiesta.
As every year, the line-up had various jazz artists from all over Europe and beyond, like Orfeas Wärdig Tsoukalas Quartets from Sweden, Jeff Herr Corporation from Luxembourg, Emil Viklický “Grand Moravia” Trio from Checz Republic, Gabriele Pezzoli Trio from Switzerland, Gorka Benitez & David Xirgu from Spain, Duo Carlos Bica & Joao Paulo Esteves da Silva from Portugal and Marjorie Barnes & Equinox from Ireland and Holland.
It lasted for 5 days, until Sunday 7th of June and finished with Yoav’s Eshed Trio Millionaires from Israel, Hijaz from Belgium and Mercan Dede Secret Tribe from Turkey.
This year was very successful as on the same time during the festival, the meet market took place so it had a more festival-like appearance. Beautiful people of every age gathered, moving in the rhythm of jazz drinking beer, enjoying the nice weather and having fun.
Last Saturday, the center of Athens became colorful and celebrated its 15th Gay Pride supporting the different and "took a stand". However, gay pride is more than a party. Gay prides take place all around the world and they have become an annual constitution. (here is a list with all gay events throughout the world).
What is a gay/LGBT pride?
Gay pride or LGBT pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance.
Why Pride Parade?
Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements throughout the world.
And why June?
The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots which occurred at the end of June 1969, and are widely considered to constitute the single most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBT rights in the United States. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.
Marketing can often be bothering, annoying or even insulting. However sometimes can be cool. This is my story, about how Cutty Sark used the tools of marketing to promote its brand among athenian youngsters. The company found a very interesting and clever way to gather groups of people by organizing alternative guided tours in the streets of Athens, calling them "urban adventures". And then of course making parties.
So, every Sunday, in a different location a new alternative tour (aka urban adventure) takes place and we have the chance to discover hidden gems in our own city!
Our tour was held around Syntagma and within this residential anarchy we could see art and beauty. This evanescent art - and I say evanescent because graffity one day is there, the other there is a new one over it- gave us the opportunity to learn about the greek street artists and see their work. The walls of our city is a big canvas and sometimes we do not even realize it.
Here is a small amount of this -literally everywhere- urban art:
